Bearing Fruit devotional
Someone in the Boat with You
A devotional on Christ's presence in the storm
Matthew 8:23–27
3:08

A reflection for today
Storms can make fear feel urgent and isolating. In Matthew 8:23–27, the disciples are not asked to pretend that the wind and waves are harmless. Their fear is real, and they bring it to Jesus.
Christ’s presence does not always mean that trouble disappears the moment we pray. It means we are not left alone in the boat. We can speak honestly about what frightens us and ask for help without hiding the weight of it.
When the waters feel high, peace may begin as a small return: remembering who is with you, praying what is true, and taking the next faithful step.
A simple practice
Name one storm you are facing in a short prayer. Then sit quietly for one minute, asking Christ to meet you there with his presence and peace.
Build a gentle rhythm of returning
Bearing Fruit helps you make room for prayer, Scripture, and the practices that keep turning your heart toward Christ.
