Bearing Fruit devotional
The Enemy's Strategy
A devotional on returning to prayer
Ephesians 6:12
2:29

A reflection for today
Prayer is rarely abandoned because someone decides it does not matter. More often, it is crowded out by a full day, discouraged by a dry heart, delayed by self-reliance, or avoided because shame makes us want to hide. Ephesians 6 reminds us that our struggle is deeper than the pressures we can see, so it is no surprise that dependence on God can feel resisted.
The answer is not to wait until life is calmer or your motives feel cleaner. God welcomes an honest turning of the heart now. Prayer is where we stop pretending that we can carry the day alone and ask for the strength we need.
When resistance is loud, a short and truthful prayer is still prayer. Turn toward God, name what is real, and begin again.
A simple practice
Ask which pressure is loudest today: busyness, dryness, pride, or shame. Name it before God, then pray one honest sentence such as, “Father, help me.”
