A reflection for today
Temptation often comes with a particular lie, which means broad intentions can feel thin in the moment. Ephesians 6:17 calls the word of God the sword of the Spirit. Specific Scripture gives us something solid to remember when fear, accusation, or desire gets personal.
Jesus met temptation with the specific words God had said (Matthew 4:1-11). Memorization is a quiet way of keeping God’s words close enough to draw on when the fight is near.
