Generosity

Hold what you have with open hands.

What it is

Generosity is the practice of holding your time, money, and attention with open hands because everything you have is received from God (2 Corinthians 9:6-7; Acts 20:35).

Why God gives it

God gives generosity to loosen the grip of fear and possession. It forms cheerful trust, neighbor-love, open-handed stewardship, and freedom from the illusion that more accumulation will secure you, because everything you have is received from Him (2 Corinthians 9:6-8; Acts 20:35).

Common distortions

Generosity gets distorted when it becomes image management, reluctant duty, or a way to bargain with God. Giving is an act of love and trust, not a transaction.
