Memorization
Commit Scripture to heart.
What it is
Scripture memorization is storing God's Word in your heart so it is ready in moments of temptation, suffering, and encouragement (Psalm 119:11; Colossians 3:16).
Why God gives it
God uses remembered truth to steady the mind and shape the loves. Memorization forms readiness. It keeps God's promises close when you do not have time to go looking for them.
Common distortions
Memorization gets distorted when it becomes trivia, performance, or a way to feel spiritually impressive. The heart of it is treasuring God's Word.
How to begin in Bearing Fruit
Start with Scripture Flashcards and choose one short verse for this week. Review it in small pockets of time and turn it into prayer.
Remember the gospel
You do not hide Scripture in your heart so God will finally love you. You do it because He has already spoken kindly and truthfully to you in Christ.
