Silence & Solitude

Quiet the noise and attend to God.

What it is

Silence and solitude are intentional withdrawal from noise and people so you can attend to God with an unhurried heart (Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16).

Why God gives it

God gives quiet not so you can obsess over yourself, but so you can remember His presence and pay attention to what He has already said in Scripture. This habit forms stillness, honesty, and slower dependence (Psalm 46:10).

Common distortions

Silence and solitude get distorted when they become escapism, self-improvement, or a hunt for private revelation. Christian quiet is not empty inwardness. It is making room to be with God.

How to begin in Bearing Fruit

Start with Daily Examen if you need a guided way into quiet. If your mind is noisy, Breath Prayer can help you slow down and return your attention to God.

Remember the gospel

You do not have to manufacture a mystical moment. In Christ, the Father has already welcomed you. Silence is one way of receiving that welcome instead of outrunning it.
