What it is
Silence and solitude mean stepping away from noise and people for a while so you can pay attention to God (Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16).
Why God gives it
God gives quiet so you can rest in Him, remember He is present, and pay attention to what He has already said in Scripture. It forms stillness and honest dependence on Him (Psalm 62:1, 5).
Common distortions
Silence and solitude get distorted when they become escapism, self-improvement, empty inwardness, or a hunt for private revelation. Christian quiet is making room to be with God.
