When You've Had Enough

Elijah was worn out and afraid, and he asked God to let him die. God didn't lecture him. He let him sleep, and He fed him. A one-minute word and prayer for the nights you're just done.

1 Kings 19:4-5, Matthew 11:28

1:20

Scripture

“I have had enough, LORD,” he said.

1 Kings 19:4

Matthew 11:28

Read along

Some nights it isn't temptation. You're just worn out and done.

Elijah had just stood against hundreds of false prophets. Then came a threat on his life, and he ran. Alone in the wilderness, he sat under a tree and asked God to let him die.

“I have had enough, LORD,” he said.

1 Kings 19:4

God didn't lecture him. He let him sleep.

Suddenly an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”

1 Kings 19:5

He ate, drank and slept again.

Jesus invites tired men to find rest in Him.

Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

Tonight, eat something, drink some water and get some sleep. That's how God cared for His prophet. And if your thoughts have gone as dark as Elijah's, don't keep them to yourself tonight. Reach out to someone you trust. Or call or text 988. You weren't meant to carry this alone.

Lord, I'm worn out. Give me rest tonight and strength for the next step. In Jesus' name, amen.

Watch and pray.
